How much does it cost to have a website?

Updated: Aug 4, 2022

The cost of creating and maintaining a website varies. There are three important costs associated with a website.

  1. First, your website will need a domain name which is the name of your website. The average price ranges between $10-50 per year.

  2. Secondly, your website will need a web hosting plan which takes care of the technical aspects of running a website. The average price ranges between $10-60 per month.

  3. Thirdly, your website will need a designer. You can design it yourself for free using a website builder, or you can hire a web designer that offers a complete service, including web design, copywriting, and search engine optimization, which usually costs between $500-$1000 for a simple website. Otherwise, you can find cheaper options, but you'll need to do the copywriting and search engine optimization yourself.

The average costs were based on the following website builders: Squarespace, Weebly, Zyro, Wix, GoDaddy, and Ionos. Plus 99designs which is an online design service. Check and compare prices.
